CHOOSING A TESTING COMPANY
Asbestos Testing Contractors in Las Vegas: Get a Real Lab Result, Not a Guess
“It looks fine to me” is not a test. Neither is a contractor’s opinion. A real answer comes from proper sampling and an accredited lab — and the company you pick decides whether that report holds up when you sell, file a claim or hire a remover.
Licensed sampling · Accredited lab · Clear written report

TEST FIRST. Popcorn, stucco and cottage-cheese ceilings in homes built before the mid-1980s may contain asbestos. You can’t tell by looking. Don’t scrape, sand or drill until a sample is tested. Learn about asbestos testing →

What a Good Asbestos Testing Company Does
- Uses licensed, trained people to take samples. In Nevada, asbestos professionals are licensed through Nevada OSHA’s asbestos program.
- Samples every different area. Additions and re-textured rooms get their own samples.
- Takes samples safely — wetting the spot, wearing protection, patching after.
- Sends to an accredited lab (look for NVLAP accreditation for asbestos analysis).
- Gives you a written report with sample locations, results and what they mean.
- Doesn’t pressure you into removal from the same company.
Red Flags
- “We can tell by looking.”
- No lab name on the report.
- One sample for a whole house with additions.
- Results in a text message with no report.
- The tester is also the remover and quotes a big job before results are back.
Inspection vs. Testing
A test answers one question: does this material contain asbestos? A full inspection looks at many materials in the home — ceilings, flooring, joint compound and more — and is common before a big remodel or demolition. For a popcorn ceiling job, testing the ceiling texture is usually what you need. Planning a bigger remodel? Ask about a full inspection.

Asbestos Testing Company Questions
Should the same company test and remove?
It’s often better to use separate companies, so the tester has no reason to find a problem. We can set up both.
Are DIY asbestos test kits accepted?
Some buyers, insurers and contractors want professional sampling and a formal report. A professional test also avoids you disturbing the ceiling yourself.
How long until I get results?
Usually a few business days. Rush options are often available.
